Text Version

Morning After.

I awoke to dawn's unearthly light.

My body soared as if in flight.

From high above, our nighttime nest.

My view of you, head on my chest.

No painted face, no coiffured hair.

No painted eyes, with rainbows stare.

No painted lips, with red abandon.

No painted nails, with colors random.

Beside me see, a man's ideal.

A woman's love, endured is real.

Just loving arms, to wrap one tight.

To hug and hold throughout the night.

A squeaky bed, I've heard you say.

"A joyous heart will never stray."

When love is given in the night,

No fool on earth could take flight.

How do I tell thee, lying there?

How do I tell thee, that I care?

How do I tell thee, with words unspoken?

How do I tell thee, my life's unbroken?

Soon you will rise and bid good day.

A kiss you will plant, I hear you say.

"Good morning Hon, did you sleep well?"

Again my heart will start to swell.

I wish I could compose in rhyme.

Like elders from a bygone time.

With eloquence, my words would say,

"I love you, each and every day."

And so we rise, and bid adieu,

For I have work, and so do you.

Tonight my heart will seek desire,

In loving arms beside a fire.
